I think I mentioned in one of my other posts that I took a break from running because I got bored of it. Well, today was the first cold and windy mornings since the start of the school year. I don’t like exercising in windy conditions, so I went to the gym. A friend of mine was running on one of the treadmills. Though I hadn’t set out to run, I ran. and I ran. and I ran. When I first started running at the beginning of the year, I could barely run 1/2 a mile without stopping or slowing down. I assumed I would be starting over.
Nope! I ran 3.61 miles with an average of 1 mile every 10:18. No stopping! I did a 10 minute cool down afterward. Check out my pace (can you tell I’m excited?).
Then, a couple of hours later, my sons wanted to go to the gym to workout for the Personal Fitness merit badges. I’m not going to go to the gym and sit there, so I joined them. I ran part of the time and walked part of the time. While walking, I put the incline at max to work other muscles. Total recorded distance. 2.2 miles.
For those who haven’t exercised with intensity, you may not know what a rush I still feel 2 hours after the 2nd time I exercised. Let’s just say the endorphins are still producing that awesome high effect and I literally love life right now.
I just remembered, in my last post about fitness, I set a goal to finish out October with more miles than September. I missed that mark by 11 miles. I went 60.03 miles in October, burned 5617 calories during my recorded exercise routines. Not bad for someone who spent time relaxing most of the month. November is off to a good start with 10 miles recorded already. Here’s to starting off 2017 on the right foot with a foundation started early 2016 and continuing 2016’s wellness goals rather than giving them up mid year.

You may be wondering what I use to track and record my exercise. As you know, I’m a pretty busy homeschooling mom. I sometimes exercise, then end up getting distracted before I can record what I did to reach my goals in a notebook. I am grateful for modern technology because I can track and record my exercise by clicking a few buttons.
When I exercise outside, I use the MapMyRun app on my iPhone. Since I was inside today, I tracked my exercise using my Garmin vívofit 2. I have found that it works well. I don’t think that the app nor the vívofit 2 are 100% accurate at measuring distance and steps, but both seem to get it pretty close. For instance, I noticed that when I walk on a treadmill, the vívofit shows that I didn’t go as far as the treadmill’s display says I went. When I run, the vívofit says I went a tad bit further. I love my vívofit 2. I bought it used February 2016.
So, what essential oils do I use on a day like today? Since I burned more calories than usual (and I stayed up later than usual working on a project last night), I will want to prevent over-eating and cravings. I also want to keep my metabolism up.
