Cedarwood is often an overlooked oil, which is why I chose to spotlight it this week. As the name of the oil suggests, it comes from the cedar tree and has an aroma that reminds me of freshly cut wood. I love the smell!
One of our family’s favorite ways to use cedar wood is to diffuse it when we are getting ready to sleep. It has a calming effect like no other. In fact, our family prefers it over lavender. We use it alone or with the old version of serenity. The new serenity blend includes cedar wood and vetiver.

Don’t have a cedar chest to store your clothes? No problem! Cedarwood essential oil is a natural bug (yes, including moth) repellant. Place a drop on a cotton ball and place in storage boxes, closets, to protect your clothes.

Our family exercises together. Before we get started, we apply 1-2 drops of cedar wood on our chests. There is definitely a noticeable difference when we remember vs when we forget.
Whether something exciting or scary is going to happen, the kids watched a TV show or movie that struck a chord, or they’re trying to figure out something, bad dreams happen from time to time. Sometimes, kids wake up scared or have anxious feelings that prevent them from returning to sleep no matter how tired they are. Once again, cedar wood essential oil to the rescue! Apply a few drops to their feet and/or put some in the diffuser. VIOLA! Everyone gets to go back to sleep. I call that a win in my book. How about you?
